RAGE m a c h i n e Books was originally created because of boredom.
Not that I was bored and had nothing to do, but boredom with many of the books I was reading. Where was the action? The color? The mind-blowing ideas that made my skin crawl? The books all seemed aimed at the literary circles and critics. Not at fans who grew up on Pulps, whether the real deal or the millions of paperbacks that scavenged from them. Writers like Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert E. Howard, H. P. Lovecraft and so many more, that delivered dark worlds of entertainment.
RAGE m a c h i n e Books publishes that kind of fiction. So if you’re looking for lengthy novels of character you might look elsewhere. (Just look for people yawning.) That’s not what we do.
According to one critic, mainstream fiction is about recognition. You read it and you recognize similar experiences in it to your life. Genre fiction is about the “Oh Wow!”, the new experience that you haven’t seen before. Whether it is a dragon made of ice or Cthulhu rising from his watery grave or “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion” to quote Roy Batty, it doesn’t matter. When the writer does his or her job well, you see new things.
We hope to make you see new things. Wondrous things, terrifying things. What more can you ask for?
